New Year's Eve in Detroit

The sixth-annual Motor City New Year’s Eve event "The Drop" takes places in downtown Detroit at Campus Martius & Cadillac Square. The fun festivities begin at 4:00pm. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Tom T and some of metro Detroit’s best local bands. Local restaurants, vendors and food trucks will be onsite offering all your favorite Detroit dishes! The kid's zone will be filled with activities including face painting, carriage rides and the kids’ Drop at 6:30pm.

Detroit Zoo's Wild Lights

Looking for a fun holiday event in the Detroit area? Detroit Zoo’s ‘Wild Lights’ is a must see!

For 24 nights, more than six million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings and over 100 animal sculptures throughout the zoo. The Detroit event also features live entertainment, seasonal refreshments, arts and crafts, storytelling and ice carving.

Wild Lights takes place from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.

December 4-6, 11-13, 18-23, 26-31

Attendees are advised to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are $9 per person in advance, or $11 at the gate. Children under 2 are free.

The Detroit Zoo is located 5 miles from the Westin Southfield Hotel.  The hotel is located directly off the Southfield freeway with direct access to Downtown Detroit and all surrounding Metro-Detroit cities.
